Pace suffers fractures, third-degree burns, and a collapsed lung

WORCESTER — A Worcester firefighter, saved by his lieutenant, is in intensive care at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
Firefighter Chris Pace was severely injured in a four-alarm fire shortly before 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, according to WCVB.
Pace and another firefighter were with Lieutenant Jason Menard on the third floor of 7 Stockholm Street searching for an occupant and baby reported to still be inside.
Fire conditions quickly changed, and Lieutenant Menard was able to get Pace and the other firefighter to safety outside before losing his own life.
Firefighter Pace’s sister-in-law told WCVB that he is suffering from several fractures, broken ribs, third-degree burns, and a collapsed lung.
Pace and his wife Mellissa were married in September. They have a one-year old son and are expecting a second child in April.
