
Fire guts a five-story building in Van Nuys

LOS ANGELES, California — Los Angeles firefighters fought a fire on all floors of an abandoned office building in Van Nuys on Sunday, according to KTLA.
The fire was reported after 4:00 p.m. according to LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The building on North Sepulveda Boulevard was boarded up on all levels and fought defensively.
In a statement from Humphrey, police assistance was requested in order to evacuate a large homeless camp in a nearby parking lot to protect them from brands and falling debris.
There were no reports of injuries or missing persons.
Members of the LAFD Urban Search and Rescue Team made entry after the fire to search for victims and assess the stability of the building.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Authorities responded to reports of a commercial structure fire in the 7100 block of Sepulveda Boulevard in the Van Nuys area around 4:07 PM.
Crews arriving on scene located a five-story office building with heavy smoke and fire showing.
Firefighters initiated an aggressive fire attack and worked to douse the apparently vacant building for over an hour.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
