Fire Engineering – On this week’s Humpday Hangout, P.J. Norwood and Frank Ricci will be joined by Assistant Chief Eddie Buchanan of the Hanover, VA Fire and EMS and Rick McGhee, the founder of the ARES Self Defense System.
They will be discussing scenes of violence. Eddie Buchanan sends his recruits for training on how to handle themselves when involved with a EMS call if a patient becomes combative. Often, fire and EMS personnel end up in situations where their patient becomes agitated or violent and there are no police officers on scene. Therefore, the fire service needs to know how to protect themselves so they can survive.
