Fire Chief to Gawkers: When the Walmart’s on Fire? Don’t Get Out Your Camera. Just Get Out.

Two people suffered minor injuries in a fire in the toy department at Walmart in Carlisle on Wednesday.

The Carlisle Fire Department responded to the fire at 60 Noble Blvd. at 7:30 p.m. and found a smoked-filled building with an evacuation in progress.

However, Carlisle Borough Fire Chief Randy O’Donnell said the department was dismayed to find people shooting video and photos of the fire rather than evacuating, risking potential injury.

His message to the community after the fire: Just leave when the fire alarm sounds. No photo is worth your health or your life.
