Fire Breaks Out at Tiffany & Co. Flagship Manhattan Store

Fire broke out in the basement of the flagship Tiffany & Co. jewelry store in Manhattan Thursday.

Smoke clouded the front of the luxury-label jewelry store and surrounding properties, but did not enter the store itself.

The fire broke out in an underground transformer vault beneath the Fifth Avenue location around 9:30 a.m., FDNY told CBS New York.

Firefighters and utility crews responded quickly and shut down power to the vault and extinguished the fire. About 100 people were evacuated from the store. Two people suffered minor injuries.
