Fiery Shreveport Interstate Crash

Signal 51 Group – November 15, 2017 | 05:27pm This all started as a crash on I-20 EB just before I-49 NB. 

A semi-truck carrying small tires was traveling EB and collided with a Dodge Ram pickup. The semi-truck caught fire and the cab was fully involved in minutes.

Several fire crews noticed heavy black smoke from their stations and called into dispatched to report the incident. Several Shreveport Fire Department units responded and called for more manpower. 

A water supply had to be established and a supply line was laid down the Linwood Avenue entrance ramp to I-20 EB and down the interstate.

Crews also requested the ARFF “Charlie” or “Crash” truck from Shreveport Regional Airport to respond and help fight the fire. 

The fire was under control within an a few hours. 

Interstate traffic was shut down in both directions and was completely opened back with 6 hours. 

No fatalities or major injuries were reported.
