FDNY Firefighter Killed in Off-Duty Road Rage Incident

BATH BEACH, Brooklyn (WABC) – The body of an off-duty firefighter was found near his damaged car on the side of the Belt Parkway early Sunday morning.

Authorities say the victim, Faizal Coto, 33, was found lying outside of his car with severe head trauma. He was later pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital. The NYPD and FDNY are both trying to piece together Coto’s tragic death.

It was reported to police that just before 5 a.m. Sunday, Coto’s vehicle collided with a suspect’s vehicle as they merged onto the parkway. The vehicles then pulled over to the side near Exit 4. Shortly after, the suspect’s vehicle fled eastbound on the Belt Parkway.
