This workshop provides fire apparatus operators and driver trainers with advanced concepts not typically covered in a basic emergency vehicle operator course (EVOC). Sadly, an understanding of these advanced concepts would prevent many fire apparatus crashes, but they are often overlooked by driver trainers. Among the issues addressed are rollover prevention, lateral g-force, siren limitations, and fire apparatus braking effectiveness. The instructor shares data he gathered from more than 14 years of research and training. Attendees can bring the concepts back to their departments and use them as the basis for training ideas and practices for their driver operators.
