Epidemic of Assaults on Firefighters Worsens in Seattle (WA)

A man in a motorized wheelchair tried to ram two firefighters who were on a medical call Friday – the latest in a string of attacks on Seattle firefighters.

In Friday’s incident, police say the firefighters were taken by surprise when a hostile man in a motorized chair began interfering with the firefighters. The man grew even more agitated as police took him into custody.

No one was seriously injured in the attack, but it is part of a troubling trend. Seattle’s Firefighter’s Union filed a formal complaint with city leaders recently, noting that firefighters had been attacked 40 times in just four months.
