QUEENS, New York — Two EMTs were hospitalized Thursday after what officials are calling a tragic coincidence centering on a crash on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway, according to WABC.

FDNY officials say EMT Liam Glinane, 63, was driving an ambulance when he suffered a stroke and veered off the road.

EMS Lieutenant Raymond Wang, 47, was doing a ride-along with a physician in a second ambulance that had stopped to help at Glinane’s crash when he suffered an aortic aneurysm.

Both EMTs were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Glinane is reported to be in critical but stable condition at Mt. Sinai in Manhattan.

Wang, also at Mt. Sinai, is in critical condition. He underwent surgery Thursday night to repair damage done by the aneurysm.

Officials say it is bizarre that both men suffered these medical emergencies at the same time.

An investigation into the incidents has begun.
