Electric Golf Cart Fire Spreads To CT Vacation House

Jul. 20—OLD LYME — A vacation house caught fire in the White Sands Beach neighborhood Saturday after an electric golf cart went up in flames, according to Fire Marshal David Roberge.

Roberge said the Old Lyme Fire Department arrived at 3:56 p.m. to find flames from the golf cart spreading to the exterior of the unoccupied house at 49 Seaside Lane.

There were no injuries, he said. The golf cart was completely destroyed while the home had structural damage.

Firefighters from numerous departments were seen working the fire, with no flames or smoke visible from behind the cordoned-off area by 4:45 p.m.

Fire from East Lyme, Lyme, Old Saybrook, Essex, Clinton and Westbrook responded.
