Eight Firefighters Injured in Staten Island Fire

STATEN ISLAND, New York — CBS New York reports that eight firefighters were injured in a two-alarm fire Friday morning on Staten Island.

Firefighters responded to a fire in a house on Livermore Avenue at approximately 9:00 a.m.

Three adults and two children live at the home and were not there at the time of the fire.

The fire began on the first floor and had extended into the second floor and attic, according to Deputy Chief Philip Solimeo.

The Red Cross is assisting the family.

The eight injured firefighters all suffered non-life-threatening injuries.  The cause of the injuries and the conditions of the firefighters was not reported.
