Detroit (MI) Fire Truck/SUV Crash Injures Four

Four people were injured Wednesday morning when a Detroit fire truck and an SUV crashed as the fire truck was responding to a fire.

Detroit fire PIO James C. Harris said the accident happened as the fire truck was responding to a call at 8 a.m. on Wednesday. As fire crews were heading to an emergency, they crashed with an SUV on Houston-Whittier and Dickerson on the city’s east side.

Two firefighters were injured and transported to the hospital along with two people in the SUV. Two additional firefighters were taken to the hospital to be checked out, he said,

The two injured firefighters are veterans with more than 15 years of service.

The details of the accident are still under investigation. The SUV sustained significant damage and the fire truck was also damaged and wound up in the yard of a house at the accident scene.

A second truck also responding to the fire stopped and provided first aid to the crash victims.
