DENVER, Colorado — Denver Fire Chief Eric Tade is expected to announce his resignation Tuesday in wake of a firefighters ball last weekend that featured coarse humor and sexual innuendo.

CBS4 reports that this was the second year in a row where the union-sponsored event contained racy content.

In 2019 the ball had a sex toy raffle.  Several firefighters posed for photos with the sex toy.

Fire Chief Tade’s response to last year’s event was that it was inappropriate and a bad decision.

The union and the fire department responded by disciplining three firefighters.

Attendees told CBS4 that at this year’s event the emcee joked at length about sex toys.

Tade told CBS that he plans to release a letter explaining his position on what happened at this year’s ball.

A spokesperson for Mayor Michael Hancock wrote to CBS4 that information may be available later today.
