WASHINGTON (NBC Washington) – Two people are in critical condition after a fire tore through their Northeast Washington row house Friday morning.
One of the victims was found in the front yard of the Maryland Avenue home, DC Fire and EMS said on Twitter. The second victim had to be rescued from the home’s basement.
Both victims are in critical condition at the hospital. Two firefighters were also treated for minor injuries.
A picture shared on Twitter by DC Fire and EMS shows flames shooting from the front door of the home.
Firefighters say the fire has been extinguished, but they remain on the scene putting out hot spots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
