Chicago (IL) Fire Truck, Police Car, Wrecker All Hit in Pileup; Six Injured Including Firefighter

A pileup on the Eisenhower Expressway Sunday morning resulted in a tow truck, police cruiser and responding fire truck all being damaged.

Six people in total had to be transported to the hospital after the accident at about 5 a.m. Six other people involved in the crash refused treatment.

The accident closed down the highway near California Avenue for over an hour.

The accident started as a two-car hit-and run. Another vehicle subsequently struck an Illinois State Police vehicle and a Chicago fire truck that had responded to the scene. An additional vehicle ran into a tow truck at the scene, and then caught fire.

There were no fatal injuries in the crash, Chicago Fire Media reported.
