Chicago Firefighters Sickened, Hospitalized after Fire

CHICAGO (WLS) – Six firefighters were hospitalized Monday morning after they woke up feeling sick, Chicago Fire Department officials said.



Ambulances arrived at Engine House 26 at 10 North Leavitt Street on the Near West Side around 3 a.m. and transported five firefighters to area hospitals. One firefighter at another firehouse was also hospitalized.

Three firefighters were released from hospitals Monday morning, their chief said. They woke up complaining of upper respiratory irritation, Assistant Deputy Fire Commissioner Timothy Sampey said.
