Chicago Firefighters Injured in Three-Alarm Fire

CHICAGO — CBS Chicago reports that approximately 30 people have been displaced, and two firefighters were injured, after a three-alarm fire destroyed a store and apartment building on Tuesday morning.

Firefighters responded to the Vincennes Food Mart at the corner of 79th and Vincennes at approximately 6:15 a.m.

By 6:45 a.m. a 2-11, or second alarm, was called and followed at 7:45 a.m. with a 3-11 alarm, bringing approximately 125 firefighters to the scene.

A Level 1 Hazardous Materials Response was called due to heavy smoke in the area, brought additional ambulances to the scene.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries were transported to a hospital in good condition.

There were no civilian injuries reported.
