A Boston orange line subway train caught fire Thursday morning at 6:45 a.m. on a bridge over the the Mystic River.
The smoky fire led to panic among passengers who exited the train via emergency window exits.
Video shows one passenger jumping from the train into the river.
“An unidentified female passenger jumped off the bridge into the river,” Somerville Fire Chief Charles Breen told the Boston Globe. “Our marine boat happened to be in the river for training and was on scene immediately.
The woman declined to get into the fire boat. Instead, she swam to shore safely. There are no reports of injuries. Some 200 passengers had to be evacuated from the train.
The incident is one a long list of problems the MBTA system has experience lately, including fires and an individual being dragged to death by a train.
