Captain was one of two people killed in collision

MERCED COUNTY, California – A CAL FIRE captain was one of two people killed in a crash this morning in Gustine, according to KFSN.

CAL FIRE has announced that Captain Paul Rotondaro, with CAL FIRE Madera-Mariposa-Merced was one of two people killed in the crash.

California Highway Patrol states that the crash occurred at approximately 7:00 a.m. on Highway 140 near Old Santa Fe Grade.

Rotondaro, 36, was heading east when a truck heading west passed a car and caused a head-on crash.

Both drivers died at the scene.  The other victim has not been identified.

People in the car that was passed suffered minor injuries from debris that hit their vehicle.
