Billings (MT) Sets Fines for Commercial Properties with Excessive False Fire Alarms

The Billings Fire Department responds to more than 800 false alarms per year. It hopes a new ordinance that fines commercial properties $250 for each false alarm, after the first two, will help reduce the number by encouraging businesses to maintain alarm systems, KTVQ reports.

The new fines go into effect at the start of 2022.
