The Baton Rouge Fire Department says Chief Fire Investigator Darryl Sanders shot a nude man who was trying to break into a fire department vehicle Tuesday.
The man, in his 30s, was expected to survive his injuries. The chief fired when he noticed the man trying to break in to his work vehicle, which contained weapons.
After hitting the man once, the chief shot him a second time because he persisted in trying to break in to the vehicle. Baton Rouge Police are investigating, WAFB reports.
