Arbitrator Approves Tulsa (OK) Firefighters 4-13 Percent Raises

An arbitrator has resolved a year-long standoff between the City of Tulsa and firefighters over pay increases in favor of a city plan to give 11 to 13 percent raises to all firefighters except those already at the top of the pay scale.

Those already at the top of the scale will receive a 4 percent raise. The firefighters union had sought an across-the-board 11 percent increase, KJRH reports.

The plan will make the city more competitive in recruiting new firefighters, but provides only a 4 percent raise for two-thirds of the department.
