An Anaheim firefighter is discussing his very close call Sunday at a fire in an illegal drug lab. Engineer John Burckle was fully engulfed in a fireball during an explosion and was dragged out of the flames by his partner who had suffered fractures in his back from the explosion. Burckle suffered second degree burns.
Burckle told Fox 11 he went from facetiming his 3-year-old son to being enveloped in an explosion in a matter of seconds.
The four-alarm fire started around 11:20 a.m. on Knollwood Circle near Woodland Dr. Sunday at what police believe was an illegal honey butane oil lab. Honey butane oil is a form of concentrated cannabis extracted using butane, a highly flammable fuel.
