Firefighters in Alexandria, Virginia are seeking a 10% pay increase in the union’s next contract. The city, meanwhile, has countered with an offer of 1.5 %, reports WTOP.

Union officials say Alexandria is losing candidates and personnel to nearby communities that offer better pay.

The city has countered with a $1,000 thank you bonus for first responders who served through the COVID-19 pandemic.
