Alabama Firefighter Recovering from Live Burn Injuries

OPELIKA, Ala. (WRBL) –  Opelika Fire Chief says Captain David Davis’ recovery, after being severely burned in a training accident, is a testament to Davis’ desire to overcome challenges. Meanwhile, the investigation into what caused the training accident that led to Davis and another firefighter being injured is ongoing.

Chief Byron Prather says prayers have extended all across the country as Captain Davis continues his recovery at UAB. Chief Prather said Captain Davis is tackling his recovery like he does everything else; with intense motivation to succeed.

“Captain Davis came out of surgery doing well; his spirits are high.  He has a good positive attitude, and from what I can see,  he is making excellent progress. His progress is greater than what they had expected at this time,” said Chief Prather.
