Airbags failed to deploy in a crash last Thursday involving a Detroit Fire Engine and a pickup truck.
Firefighters suffered bumps, bruises, muscle pain and facial cuts, but no serious injuries occurred. Initial investigation suggests the pickup truck struck the fire engine above the bumper, avoiding contact with the airbag sensors.
Firefighters are asking for a review and improvements to make sure airbags in fire engines are working.
The truck manufacturer is sending representatives to investigate the issue.
