A Fond Farewell

On Oct. 29, the International Association of Fire Chiefs’ (IAFC) Executive Director, Garry Briese, announced his resignation from the organization after 22 years of service.

Briese cites his commitment to family as one of the major reasons for his departure; he will be relocating to Colorado in 2007 to be nearer to family members, and will continue his career in the private sector.

Although he will be greatly missed, Briese feels comfortable leaving the IAFC at this time because the organization”has never been in better shape with our staff, our programs, our finances, our members, our board of directors and our elected leadership.”

To replace Briese, the IAFC will begin a national search for a new executive director in 2007.
