9/11 Families Protest Trump, Mickelson and Other Supporters of Saudi LIV Golf Tour

A group of people who lost family members in the 9/11 terror attacks on America are criticizing athletes and former President Donald J. Trump for partnering with the Saudi Arabian-backed LIV golf tournament.

Juliette Scauso, daughter of FDNY Firefighter Dennis Scauso, was one of four speakers who spoke out at the protest press conference.

“We 9/11 families would trade any amount of money in the world just to see our loved ones again, just to have one last hug, one conversation, one more round of golf,’ said Scauso, whose father was one of 343 firefighters killed on 9/11.

The tour has been controversial since it is backed by the Saudi government. Fifteen of 19 terrorists who hijacked the planes that crashed into the Pentagon and World Trade Center were Saudi citizens.

In addition, family members contend a growing amount of evidence exists connecting the Saudi government to the attacks, though the Kingdom has successfully lobbied Congress to shield it from investigations into the attacks.

Trump agreed to host a LIV event at his Bedminster golf course. Golfer Phil Mickelson, and others, have accepted large payouts to join the tour, inciting critics of the Saudi government.
