Incident command video from Newark, Ohio
David Decker – On November 4, 2019 at 0901 hours, Newark Fire Department was dispatched to 987 Idlewilde Avenue for a report of a structure fire. While responding, the dispatcher reported a person possibly being trapped inside the structure per the caller information. Medic-1 was on the air in the vicinity and quickly arrived on scene reporting a working fire. The crew from Medic-1 donned their turnout gear and using a water-can attempted to make entry into the structure as civilians had indicated that they thought they could hear someone inside.
NFD responded with 2 engines, 2 ladders, 2 medics, and 3 chief officers for total strength of 19, and received assistance from 2 mutual-aid engines. While the fire was being knocked down a search of the structure revealed no civilians were inside. Shortly after that the occupant arrived on scene and confirmed nobody is inside.
The cause of the fire was ruled undetermined.
