
Truck fire evolves into a multiple-alarm fire
K2M Photography – In the early morning hours of Sunday, December 8th, 2019 the Williston Park Fire Department was called to a truck fire at the rear of 61 Hillside Avenue [Bagel Express].
When firefighters arrived on scene, they were met with a working van fire at the rear of a one-story commercial building with extension to the interior.
The fire quickly spread through the bagel store and consumed the adjacent tutoring center on the exposure four side.
Multiple hand lines were put into operation alongside Mineola Ladder 168 and Williston Park Ladder 862.
The fire reached multiple alarms bringing in mutual aid from various departments.
Among those called were Mineola, East Williston, Albertson, Westbury, New Hyde Park, and Garden City Park among others.
Several other agencies were on scene including OEM, Hazmat, the Nassau County Fire Marshals, NCPD, and NCPD EAB.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
