Video: Man Catches Fire Drilling Gas Tank to Steal Fuel from Salt Lake (UT) Truck

Salt Lake City business Summit Fire and Protection caught an unusual sight in its parking lot last Saturday when a man set himself on fire trying to steal gas from a vehicle.

The vehicle had already been targeted by a thief who stole the vehicle’s catalytic converter and siphoned some gas from the tank.

But on Saturday another thief targeted the truck. This time he drilled into the tank, touching off a fire.

Salt Lake officials warn that drilling into a gas tank is a risky proposition that should be avoided. Fortunately, as the video shows, the thief remembered his stop, drop, and roll training or the outcome could have been much worse.
