Nov. 3—Three firefighters sustained minor injuries after a fire engine overturned onto its side in a single-vehicle crash Sunday evening, Nov. 3, outside Azusa, authorities said.

The California Highway Patrol responded around 5:35 p.m. after the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported that one of its engines overturned on Highway 39 (San Gabriel Canyon Road), north of Azusa and near the San Gabriel Reservoir, said Officer Erik Larsen, a CHP spokesperson.

Engine 32 firefighters were responding to a cliff rescue when the engine overturned onto its side, the fire department said.

Three firefighters were transported to a hospital with minor injuries, LA County Fire said.

A SigAlert was in effect for several hours as a heavy-duty tow truck worked to remove the engine from the area, Larsen said.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.
