Firefighters from Crook County Fire and Rescue saved roughly half the contents of a moving van that caught fire Wednesday in Prineville when a sticking brake ignited a fire that first blew out a trailer tire and then set the contents of the trailer on fire.

Crews arrived on scene at 6:30 a.m. on George Millican Road to find an approximately 40-foot semi-trailer 50% involved in fire.

The driver of the commercial vehicle was able to unhook the tractor from the trailer. The trailer belonged to a moving company, and crews found that the trailer was completely full of a home’s contents, including furniture and other personal items.

Crews were able to keep the fire to the rear of the trailer, saving some of the personal items in the trailer.
