Selma (CA) Firefighter/Paramedic Dies 10 Years After Training Injury Paralyzed Him

A Selma firefighter paralyzed during a training accident died Thursday, 10 years to the day after he was hurt.

Firefighter-Paramedic Chris Nelson was injured on the job on February 8, 2014. Nelson, who had over seven years on the job at the time of his injury, was paralyzed as a result of an incident that occurred while training on duty.

Nelson, 55, was known in the department for his positive attitude, kind personality, and strong work ethic, the City of Selma Fire Department said via Facebook. The department reports that he died peacefully in his sleep.
