Box loaded up due to calls and reports of people trapped

Location: MacNish Street, Elmhurst Queens.

Wednesday afternoon the calls began to stream into the FDNY’s Communications Office reporting a fire on the third floor of an apartment building on MacNish Street in Elmhurst.

Some callers reported that residents had begun to self-evacuate onto the fire escapes.

Engine 287 confirmed a working fire with the transmission of the 10-75.

The fire was contained to the bedroom of an apartment but the smoke caused dozens of residents to evacuate.
