Rescues at a fire on State Street

ALL COUNTY NEWS – PERTH AMBOY – Firefighters arrived at 364 State Street and found heavy fire in a store on the ground floor of a 3 story mixed-use building with people trapped on the upper floors of the building.

Units quickly deployed ground ladders and rescued four adults and one baby from the building.

Five people and one firefighter were transported by EMS to the hospital for minor injuries and smoke inhalation.

Fire companies from several towns assisted in bringing the fire under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
