A 3-alarm fire in Paterson early Friday killed one person as it spread across at least three buildings in one city block, authorities said.
Firefighters arrived about 2:35 a.m. to North 7th Street, where they found heavy fire on the first and second-floors of a wood-frame building with flames spreading to nearby structures, fire officials said.
Paterson Mayor Andre Sayegh said one person died in the blaze, but additional details were not immediately available. ABC7ny.com also reported one resident was still missing.
Firefighters at 6 a.m. were still working to bring the fire under control, officials said.
