Two NC Firefighters Injured in Separate Fire Truck Rollovers

A West Iredell Fire Department truck overturned Tuesday morning on Interstate 40 near the Old Mountain Road exit ramp, WBTV reports.

According to firefighters, the vehicle flipped while responding to traffic accidents caused by winter weather conditions.

One firefighter was injured and transported to a local hospital. The extent of damage to the fire truck remains unclear.

Meanwhile, the icy led to a separate crash involving a Winston-Salem fire truck. WXII reports Winston-Salem Fire Department’s Ladder 19 overturned in a field near Kernersville after skidding on ice while responding to a crash on Glen High Road.

The fire truck was en route to assist at the scene of an earlier traffic collision when the icy road conditions caused the vehicle to lose control and overturn.

One firefighter was involved in that incident.
