At approximately 4:15 PM on on May 7, 2021, 911 calls began flooding in reporting multiple houses on fire in the area of 11th Avenue and 57th Street in Sacramento’s Tahoe Park neighborhood.

Multiple off-duty fire personnel who live in the area were first on scene, and finding heavy fire between 2 residential structures, made sure that the immediate exposure buildings were evacuated. One house was occupied by an elderly wheelchair-bound woman, who was fortunately not home at the time of the fire.

SFD Engine 6 arrived within minutes of the first 911 call, and immediately placed a line into service and began fire attack in one of the involved buildings.

Due to extremely dry and windy conditions, within 5 minutes of the initial 911 call 3 houses and a poolhouse were well involved in fire.

A second, and eventually third alarm were struck, bringing crews from throughout the city to the scene, with additional resources responding from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District and the West Sacramento Fire Department.

The fire was eventually contained with no injuries to civilians or firefighters, and 2 dogs were rescued from the first structure to catch fire.

The cause is under investigation.
