Mother and Daughter Firefighters Reunite at Fire in Cow Canyon (WA) Wildfire

Firefighters Katie Benitez and her mom, Captain Bonnie Rodgers, reunited at the Cow Canyon Fire last week.

Katie said she always looked up to her mom, watching as she pursued her firefighting career at Washington’s Benton County Fire District, first as a firefighter and then working her way up to captain.

So when Katie graduated high school, she went directly into training to become a firefighter on her own, now working for the State of Washington.

With Katie already working the Cow Canyon Fire, her mom texted her with the news that she would soon be joining her at the scene.

The two held a brief reunion before getting back to the family business – putting out fires.
