Monclova Township (OH) Voters Balk at Plan to Outsource Fire Department

Montclova Township officials have floated an idea to outsource fire protection to Springfield Township. But that idea has some voters deeply concerned about how well the neighboring community would respond to emergencies.

The proposal is one of two that the town is evaluating. The second involves increasing the number of full time employees in the existing department.

Right now the fire department has 55 employees, but only three are full time. The fire chief proposes turning two part time positions into full time positions.

Residents turned out Monday to support the plan for keeping the department in town.
