Maryland Firefighter “Significantly Burned” in House Fire

Two firefighters injured in Prince George’s County fire

RIVERDALE HEIGHTS, Maryland (ABC7) – A house fire in Prince George’s County has left six people displaced and a firefighter injured, according to the county fire department.

Crews got to the 5200 block of 57th Avenue around 2:47 p.m., according to the Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department. That’s where they found a single-story home in flames.

The department said a firefighter was “significantly” burned while battling the fire and was transported to a local hospital. A second firefighter was also transported for evaluation.

Crews took care of the fire in less than two hours. Officials said the fire displaced six adults and two cats.

Fire officials said an additional five people – three adults and two children – from nearby homes were also displaced.

Investigators are still looking into what caused the fire.
