Manchester (NH) Fire Captain Burned in Flashover Released from Hospital

Fire Captain Steve DesRuisseaux was released from Mass General Hospital Monday, almost a month after he was burned over nearly half of his body while fighting a fatal fire in Manchester, WBZ reports.

DesRuisseaux was caught in a flashover while helping evacuate people from a second story apartment in Manchester. One woman died in the fire. He spent 23 days in the hospital where he was treated for burns.

Firefighters, family and friends gathered to welcome DesRuisseaux in an emotional homecoming.
