Significant fire in a 21,711 square foot commercial building

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the 2700 block of S Long Beach Ave at 3:39am. First arriving companies found a one story commercial with heavy fire showing.

Several additional task forces were requested to assist firefighters on scene and to have adequate members for a rapid intervention crew (RIC).

Firefighters used heavy streams from the ground and aerial ladders called “ladder pipes” to fight the fire from a defensive posture. Command 22 was known as “Long Beach IC” as Battalion 1 handled operations.

Through a well coordinated firefight with 144 firefighters on a scene knockdown was called after 1 hour and 48 minutes. The structure was a 21,711 square foot commercial building reportedly doing business as a women’s clothing wholesaler.
