Longmont (CO) Chief’s Widow Donates His Gear to Ukraine

Nearly 10 years after his death, Longmont Division Chief Lynn Huff’s gear is headed to Ukraine, to help others fight fires.

Huff died in a hiking accident in Hawaii three years after his retirement when ground beneath him gave way.

Since then, his wife Barbara has kept much of his gear just as he left it when he was active at the Mountain View Fire Rescue Station in Boulder.

But watching the firefighters struggle to do their jobs during the war, she decided he would rather it go where it would be used for its intended purpose: helping others.

“That was his whole life, service to others above self,” she told 9News.
