Forcible entry was difficult
firelensman – 9-12-2019 LAFD Engine 58’s call was upgraded to a structure fire at 8563 West Venice Boulevard in West Los Angeles.
The first reports were “fire and smoke showing” from the rear of a one story commercial automotive shop. LAFD Firefighters stretched lines, laddered the the roof and exposures, then forced entry into the front and rear of the involved structure.
Los Angeles firefighters then stretched lines on both sides of the building. Entry through the rear proved difficult due to a scissor gate and roll down gate seemingly backed up by interior iron bars. Firefighters also had to contend with power lines running in front and behind the structure.
The main portion of fire was knocked down with handlines via Firefighters forcing thier way inside the front of the involved building.
The main bulk of fire was knocked down by approximately 45 Firefighters in a little over 30 minutes.
There were no reported injuries, exposures on both sides suffered smoke damage.
The cause of the suspicious late night “greater alarm” fire is under investigation. – MNR –
