Structure fire threatening an exposure

Stockton Fire History Originals

On September 3rd, 2020 shortly before 5 am, Stockton Firefighters responded to reports of a structure fire on Howard Street Cross of Stockton Street. Crews arrived to a single story, single family dwelling and trees on fire; threatening another structure to the west. Firefighters pull several 2 1/2 inch attack lines and extinguished the exterior and house fire. Firefighters saved the neighboring house (shown in most of the video).

Crews later found fire in a two story detached garage. The stairwell had burned away, and firefighters were challenged to gain access to the second story. The structure was found to be used for an illegal ‘grow house’ operation for marijuana. All windows and doors were framed-in and sealed up. While crews were able to extinguish the main house and vegetation fires within 15 minutes of the 9-1-1 call, it took firefighters up to 45 minutes to make access and extinguish the grow house.

The Stockton Fire Department consists of 12 firehouses, and protects 350,000 people. Stockton Firefighters responded to more than 51,000 emergencies in 2019, including an average of one working structure fire a day.
