Hamden (CT) Electric Bus Goes Up in Flames

An electric bus burned at a Hamden bus depot parking lot early Saturday morning. Two CT Transit employees and a firefighter were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The lithium ion batteries in the bus made the fire difficult to extinguish, but firefighters were able to protect nearby exposures and stop the fire from spreading.

The two transit employees were taken to the hospital because of exposure to smoke. The firefighter suffered heat exhaustion.

The Fire Marshall is investing the cause of the fire.
