Fire District No.1 of Johnson County

On 10/18/2020 just shortly after 6:00 a.m., Fire District #1 Of Johnson County, KS was dispatched to the 700 Block of S. Evergreen St. in Gardner, KS for a Building Fire. While units were responding, callnotes indicated that the back of the building was on fire and that all occupants excluding a feline were out of the structure.

The first arriving unit found heavy fire showing on the back-side of the building and began extinguishing it while additional units arrived on the scene. The majority of the fire was quickly contained. Other units on the scene began extinguishing smaller fires throughout the structure.
The involved structure included two separate residents that were attached. A total of two adults, one child, and one feline have been displaced due to the fire. The feline that was initially reported as missing was found by one of the crews. The feline is in stable condition. The cause of this fire is still under investigation.

Attached to this media release is footage from one of the first arriving units along with helmet camera footage and other scene footage.

We would like to thank Johnson County, KS Fire District #2, Johnson County Northwest Consolidated Fire District, Olathe Fire Department, Johnson County Med-Act, and the Gardner Police Department for their assistance.
